Variations
I had the opportunity to play The Barber of Seville with the Paris Opera many times.
During all those performances, I was delighted to hear the sopranos and tenors as they interpreted these
four famous pieces with virtuosity and a stunning dramatic tension.
I imagined and wrote these variations on an original theme for clarinet just to make those delightful
moments last.
It is now a pleasure for me to share them with you.
The four arias are presented in the chronological order of the opera but you are free to play them in any order,
or even just one, two or three of them.
The articulation and dynamics are meant to be as close as possible to Rossini?s work. I have just added very
little and please feel free to adapt them in any way you like.
I wish you a lot of fun interpreting these pieces.
